How to use this wood volume calculator

Use “Rectangular” for boards, panels, or squared-off blanks. Switch to “Cylindrical” for dowels, logs, turning blanks, or anything round — just enter the diameter and length instead of width and thickness.

Formulas

Rectangular: Volume = Length × Width × Thickness
Cylindrical: Volume = π × (Diameter ÷ 2)² × Length

This is a straight geometric volume, unlike the Board Foot Calculator which reports lumber-specific units. Useful for turning blank stock, estimating epoxy or resin fill for a void, or any time you need a true cubic measurement rather than a board foot count.
