How to use this bevel angle calculator
Enter your board’s thickness and the bevel angle you want, measured from square (0° is a straight cut). This tells you the saw setting plus two things most people forget to check first: how much longer the beveled face gets compared to a square edge, and how far the bottom edge shifts sideways from the top.
Formula
Face Width = Thickness ÷ cos(Angle)
Horizontal Setback = Thickness × tan(Angle)
Horizontal Setback = Thickness × tan(Angle)
This matters most for beveled box sides, angled table legs, and chamfered edges — the setback tells you how much your layout marks need to shift to account for the angled face, so your joint lines up instead of running short on one side.
